This weekend gone saw the annual RAC Awards nights. As usual it was held at the Perth Convention Centre and as usual no expense was spared. Jemma and I rarely get a night out by ourselves so we really enjoyed this one.
I will admit for the firs time in more than a decade I think I had to much to drink. I can swear to you that never again will that happen!
Anyway here are some photos from the night.
I have come to the official conclusion that Hyper V (Microsoft Hyper Visor) totaaly sucks!
I first started using it back when VMware Hyper Visor still cost money and had hardware restrictions where Microsoft one did not. I have put up with the unexpected behavior time and time again and now I have had enough.
A couple time now I have had power outages at my place, and while I have UPS on the main Host server, it seems to never shutdown the VM‘s cleanly. Then when you power it back up it has xml file issues which prevent the VM‘s from starting up.
I have had to manually go in and delete the xml files, remove the VM‘s from the Hyper Visor console, then re-add them back in. Often it takes up to two hours to resolve the issues after a power outage.
I am therefore going to look at migrating all my servers over to VMware ESXi in the coming months. We use VMware at RAC and I know it is robust.
Microsoft I am pulling down the Blue Flag for Virtual Technology and waving the Green Flag of VMware.
